Brachioplasty or Arm Lift

Who is a good candidate for brachioplasty?

A brachioplasty, or arm lift, is a surgical procedure that reduces excess flaccidity and pockets of fat located on the inside of the arms.

Fluctuations in weight, aging, and heredity can cause the upper arms to appear sagging. This state when it is pronounced cannot be corrected through physical exercise.

In general, candidates for a brachioplasty meet one of the following characteristics:

  • Adults with significant laxity in the inner arms

  • Adults whose weight is relatively stable and who are not significantly overweight

  • Healthy individuals with no medical conditions that prevent proper recovery or increase the risk of surgery

  • no smokers

  • Individuals with a positive and realistic outlook

During the consultation to get an arm lift you should talk about:

  • The objective you intend to achieve with the surgery

  • Medical conditions, drug allergies and medical treatments

  • Current medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alcohol, tobacco, and drug use

  • previous surgeries

Your surgeon will follow these steps:

  • Evaluate your general state of health and any pre-existing conditions or risk factors

  • will take pictures

  • It will show you the options

  • They will inform you of the results of the brachioplasty and any risks or possible complications

Be sure to ask as many questions as you feel are necessary. To help you, we have prepared a list of questions you can ask at your consultation.

It is very important to understand all aspects of a brachioplasty. It is natural to feel some anxiety or a little bit of preoperative stress.
