Breast Reconstruction

Reconstruction with implants

After performing a mastectomy, Dr. Flores proceeds to the reconstruction process by placing a tissue expander underneath the muscle. Saline is infiltrated to achieve the desired expansion, then the expander is removed to place the silicone implant. This procedure can be completed in an approximate period of six months.

Reconstruction with own tissue

The breasts can also be reconstructed using the patient's autologous tissue. It is possible to use a portion of abdominal tissue to rebuild the breast. This is known as the TRAM flap. It is also possible to perform microsurgery procedures in case the abdominal muscles and tissues are not candidates for this surgery.

Nipple and areola reconstruction

After initial surgery, either with an implant or with the own tissue, it is possible to reconstruct the nipple and areola. Using a little tissue from the area, a geometric reconstruction that resembles a nipple is made, then it is sent to the tattooist specialist to obtain an appearance with natural coloration.
